Description

The John F. Barnes method of Myofascial Release has a treatment approach that looks at the body and mind as a whole. The keystone of this practice is to balance out the pelvis so that all other parts of your body are in optimal alignment. As a Registered Massage Therapist that has extra training in myofascial release, I use this full body approach as well as a postural and an orthopedic assessment to dig deep and find the root of the problem that you may be experiencing. Myofascial Release involves applying gentle sustained pressure into the myofascial connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion. It is a safe and very effective hands on technique that allows the therapist to use a multitude of techniques and movement therapy. Home care plays a huge role in the journey of physical and emotional wellness. The combination of myofascial release treatments and home care is what helps to prolong the feeling of well being. Taking one away from the equation is like losing a piece from a puzzle. I take pride as an RMT in being a part of that journey, and enjoy sharing my knowledge that is pertinent to proper body mechanics and movement, self treatment instructions, strength training, stretching to improve flexibility, and postural and movement awareness. Each myofascial release treatment session is performed directly on skin without the use of oils or creams. This allows the RMT to detect fascial restrictions and helps determine how much sustained pressure needs to be applied in order to release the restrictions.
